Introduction

Onkyo’s latest AV receiver models are very popular. So we had only four models in the test: for $345.00-$350 the TX-SR309 as a 5.1 model, the best-selling TX-NR609 as 7.1 AVR for $379, the “aspiring racers” TX-NR809 (also 7.2 Model) for $699.00 and the 9.2 AV Receiver TX-NR1009 for $1,329.99. Many of our readers have been raised in view of the range the question: Which Onkyo AV receiver that my claim of right? We have answers.

TX-SR309 and TX-NR609 are very different – the TX-SR309 is indeed processed clean for about $350 and looks chic, the higher and higher quality in detail TX-NR609 but makes the price range jump significantly. He has a different layout of the front panel and a two-line display.

Even the interior of the price differences become clear. Very simple, the TX-SR309 – here you realize that no manufacturer can do magic about for $350. The TX-NR609 is already built up a bit more work, special finesse but can not be expected. Completely different quality TX-NR809/1009: Accurate amplifier layout, clean design platinum, clear wiring. The differences between the two major models are low, you can see from the 9 amps bim 1009 and 1009 when the black anodized heat sink. The Video-/HDMI-Boards are identical.

All four Onkyo remote controls are neatly for the respective price ranges. The housing of the remotes are all kept in high-gloss black, the key pressure point is reasonable, the menu crosses are placed quite conveniently. TX-SR309 and TX-NR609 are nearly the same remote control, even with TX-NR809 and TX-NR1009, there are no visual differences. On the remotes you can call with the Home button at the building recognizable motif in the key, important basic operating functions
